All chapter have been reviewed, revised, and in some cases, reorganized for clarity.

Designed to streamline the process and avoid errors, this book is organized in the order of MARC tags. Following the steps in this guide, users can

* identify the rules that govern each MARC field

* match resources with records

* edit records

*create new records easily

*clone records for different editions

*make individual MARC records `play well` with others in the database.

Beginners cataloguers can use this guide to create simple records, while experienced cataloguers will be able to quickly locate specific rules. This book will help cataloguers pick better matching records and systems and help librarians understand the content of records at the core of their collections. Providing clear, practical direction, this authoritative reference is a premier resource for students and instructors to create and edit consistently good MARC records.
